Green Building Consulting & LEED Certification
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating SystemŽ developed by the US Green Building Council is a voluntary standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
SDK has developed a custom, clear and concise sustainable design and construction project management process and suite of tools to assist project owners and design teams achieve LEED NC, CS, EB, and CI certification. The SDK process has proven to be consistently successful in getting the required sustainable design elements in construction documents and managing the construction process to achieve contractor dependant LEED points, and facilitate and streamline the LEED certification application development, submission and approval process. Throughout the design and construction process SDK provides the following services:
Project design charettes with building owners and design teams to set green design goals
Third party consulting to the entire design team on integrating green design and sustainability into the design and construction documents
Green design analysis of design and construction documents and LEED scorecard reviews for project status
Construction administration and monitoring for green design elements
Full certification administration for LEED project application
SD Keppler & Associates, LLC, (SDK), located in Rockville, Maryland and, formed in 2002, has guided and supported 12 LEED certified buildings by the USGBC, including New Construction, Existing Buildings and Commercial Interiors projects. SDK is currently supporting 24 projects tracking towards LEED certification by the USGBC.

Building Commissioning (Cx) and Energy Modeling
Building commissioning is the process of ensuring that a building's systems are designed, installed, and tested to perform according to the design and the building owner's operational needs. Fundamental Building Commissioning is a pre-requisite of the LEED rating systems and is required for certification. SDK provides full fundamental and additional building commissioning services from the early planning and design stages through until building completion. SDK assumes the roll as the building commissioner, from third party mechanical system review of construction documents to functional testing, and pre-occupancy commissioning services.
Completing a building energy model early in design assists in creating an efficient building envelope and systems design. SDK offers a package for building energy modeling, and when coupled with sustainable design consulting proves to be a useful tool for designing an efficient and sustainable building from project inception.

Institutional Sustainability & Project Work
SDK offers expertise and experience on how to integrate sustainability into organizations. SDK works with corporate and institutional organizations to integrate sustainability into policies and procedures, sets goals for implementation, and develops and establishes monitoring and feedback process to measure success. SDK also offers customized onsite training, marketing materials, support services to fully include sustainability into your organization.
SDK also has experience in and offers consulting, training, and marketing support to product and service companies that provide their products and services to commercial and institutional building owners on how to implement sustainable design, construction, and operating strategies in their customers facilities (including developing marketing/sales/technical business process and software tools to support their business objectives as they relate to sustainable design, construction, and operating strategies).

Sustainable Design and Green Building Training and Workshops
SDK provides customized green building, LEED, and sustainability training sessions and workshops for corporate, institutional, or design and construction industry organizations. We leverage our deep technical and practical project experience, and combine it with our leaderships long history and experience in the design and construction industry and past USGBC LEED Program Management role experience, to deliver high quality, informative and use educational seminars.
