GREEN BUILDING CONSULTING AND LEED CERTIFICATION EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS
SDK's Green Building Consulting (GBC) and LEED Certification services scope of work takes on responsibility for:

Discovering and setting LEED goals (score target) with the owner and design team, and
establishing design strategies with the design team (path to compliance) for each target LEED prerequisite and point

Providing close technical support to each design team consultant in getting required elements into the construction documents to achieve the path to compliance
-
Providing close technical support to the owner in getting their required actions to occur to support and achieve the paths to compliance for owner issues
-
Compiling all documentation, calculations, submittals required for LEED certification,
draft and submit the LEED certification application (write-up and documentation descriptions) to the USGBC
-
Manage the USGBC review process to closure and certification
SDK has developed a custom, clear, and concise sustainable design and construction project management and process suite of tools to assist project owners and design teams achieve LEED NC, CS, and CI LEED certification. The SDK process has proven to be consistently successful in getting the required sustainable design elements in construction documents, managing the construction process to achieve contractor dependant LEED points, and facilitate and streamline the LEED certification application development, submission, and approval process.
Our experience with these services on our LEED certified projects has demonstrated that having a single entity be responsible for the entire LEED process as well as commissioning brings value to the costs associated with the parallel tasks, supports the potential for a very successful and streamlined effort towards LEED goals, and that close proximity to the site and owner is a critical success factor.

LEED EB EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS
At SDK we are particularly proud of our LEED EB project expertise and experience. We were directly responsible for the detailed client and site work supporting the certification of two of the first three projects ever to be certified under LEED EB.
Steve Keppler, president of SDK was a core member on the LEED Existing Buildings (EB) steering committee, and the prime contributor in the development of the first two LEED EB rating system draft versions. The involvement proved inherent knowledge of the LEED Existing Buildings (EB) rating system into developing our LEED EB project consulting technical expertise and practical working knowledge of LEED EB.
SDK has developed a custom, clear, and concise interactive computer based administrative and decision analysis tool to assist clients with initial and subsequent LEED EB certification process. The tool helps building administrators remain aware of which operations data and inspections results need to be maintained on an ongoing basis for the purpose of maintaining LEED EB certification. In addition, the tool provides a central location to store data/records, track and manage progress, and generate required recertification documents.
