Position: Project Associate - Technical Support
SD Keppler and Associates, LLC is in search of a team-oriented individual who can work well with minimal supervision in a small office environment. Strong professional skills and a positive, flexible, attitude are essential. Responsibilities consist of technical support to Project Managers during the LEED certification process as well as technical assessments on projects sites. Technical skills and site visits will primarily relate to the assessment, modification, and management practices associated with building automation control systems, HVAC management, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and water efficiency. The majority of the required work is focused on existing building assessments as it relates to the LEED certification process.
Secondary responsibilities may include support during building commissioning, support and on-site help during functional performance testing, and assistance is drafting summary reports for owners and project team members. While the position entails interaction with designers, it is not a design position. The right person will be able to work as part of the project team while requiring minimal hands-on supervision. A basic understanding of LEED is helpful but not required; an interest in high efficiency practices and environmental sustainability is vital to the success of any applicant.
Preferable applicants should have the following:
3 to 7 years relevant work experience
Direct knowledge of HVAC systems/controls and commercial office building 'best management practices
Background in detailed technical project work in commercial and institutional buildings
Experience with quantitative energy and water use analysis, building commissioning, and Energy Star portfolio program analysis
A strong ability to absorb technical details and established processes to contribute to a technical team and the overall program
Ability to read, understand, and navigate a set of building plans
Novice to intermediate level experience or knowledge of the LEED Green Building Rating Systems
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience managing multiple, complex projects/tasks
Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
Pay depends on experience. The position is full time, M-F. The company offers a retirement savings program as well as health benefits and paid vacation.
